This coming May 17, 2015 would be my third year of taking photography into another level. What started as taking photos with my iPhone 4S of people, places and things which I thought was interesting and that I wanted to share to the world through this website, I followed the advice of my high school principal and got myself my first DSLR, Canon EOS 600D that came with a EFS 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, and the rest as they say is history. In photography having the correct light is important and it is often use to add drama to the scene. As photographer we are taught of going for proper or correct exposure but that is not always the case. Here is one photo that I took of the inside of a chapel.
The newly-renovated Manila Cathedral was opened to the public just in time for the observance by the Filipino Catholics of the Holy Week. It was worth the long wait.
It was difficult to get a decent shot of the cathedral as a lot of people are always in the shot, besides getting bumped while focusing. Since my usual practice is to compose the shot before hitting the button, just like a film photographer, it took me some time to get these shots. Though from the shots that I got, it was all worth it.
So if ever you are in Metro Manila or visiting the Philippines, don’t forget to visit this church. It is in Intramuros, Manila and if you are a tourist and this place is not in your itinerary, ask your tour guide to add this place as part of your tour. Besides it is very near Fort Santiago also in Intramuros, Manila which is a regular on any tour.
Photos taken with a Canon EOS 600D and Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5USM lens.
In my almost 40 years of existence, I’ve been to this park only once when I was asked by a pianist friend to cover his concert inside the chapel and it was at night so I really didn’t see the details of this place. So last Saturday I thought of visiting this place and take some shots myself after seeing some photos on my friend’s Facebook account. Upon entering the gate I saw a lot of photographers, amateurs and pros, having open photo shoots all around the park. It made me smile as I found another place where photographers can shoot their hearts out without being hassled by security. Here I saw photographers with their gears freely allowed to do photo shoots with their models wherever they want to. Now I got another place to shoot besides the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City.
I plan to do some photo shoot here when I have the time. Most probably after I am done with my shoot at Alta Rios Resort and Conference Center on April 9 and 11. Though I plan to do it on a weekday and hopefully they allow it on those days.
